I just found out on Saturday and as this is such a small group, I figured a little notice might be good.
The regular Wednesday evening gesture studio is going to have a group of dancers that will be performing at the Center for the Arts drop by for the evening and we will be able to do short (probably very quick gesture) poses for the evening starting at 6:30 to 9:30. One session is $9 and a pack of 4 is $30. A really interesting opportunity.
The school is on Marshall and 2nd Street in Scottsdale.
Come if you think it will be fun. dj*

OKAY I GOOFED. It was Cambodia. I did some pretty feeble gestures but I did ask the second act, our model Athena, if I could take a few snapshots as she danced. My sketching got much better after an hour or so, but the photos are real gems. This was the first, done as a demo at the Princess last week. 1/2 sheet of hot pressed, as I got one after the demo by the great cowboy watercolorist. I was on a roll. So last weekend I did another from that session and here is a FULL sheet of cold pressed: This is not even what I had started to do! I was going to get the motion and freedom of the dance with some Ted Nuttall "sloppy dots" and somehow ended up going full out realism. I hope when I go to the more active photos, the pictures will loosen up. I promise to keep you all posted. dj*

DJ,
Somehow I missed this post. What a wonderful opportunity. Is it still being offered?
Having photos permissable during the session is a plus for those of us that are a bit slower on the "draw" !
Your work from the session is gorgeous. I would love to see more.
